BioSystems and Metabolic Engineering (Biorefinery)
Researches in BioSystems and Metabolic Engineering group focus on the design and construction of new biological systems and synthetic microbes for bio-based production of chemicals, materials and fuels. Development of microbial cell factories for biorefinery through synthetic biology has drawn much attraction due to its potential to create novel, functional biological parts and systems for special purposes. In addition to cutting-edge researches, we offer a number of pertinent courses providing the students with the know-how and practical experience needed, through in-depth discussions and laboratory experiments. Education at UNIST within the graduate program leads the students to become leading researchers and experts within their area as well as creative leaders for both academia and various biotechnology industries.
