UNIST has made continuous advancements in the frontier of secondary battery research, since its establishment in 2009. The school has produced over 130 Mater’s and Ph.D. professionals over the past ten years. The Industry-Academia Battery R&D Center, which opened in 2017, is said to be the cradle for secondary battery specialists, by not only solving challenges faced by manufacturing industries but also generating disruptive innovations in start-ups with equipment that can generate, analyze, and validate ideas immediately.

On this day, Minister Moon had also met with executives from domestic battery companies at Samsung SDI’s manufacturing plant in Ulsan to discuss the development strategy for the battery industry.
